Nanodas Gurtschoner ~ Nanoda’s Seat Belt Protector

How remiss I am… On Monday there was the go-ahead – and I havn’t told about my trial-sewing for Nadine  from Nanodas kreative Welt and haven’t introduced this lovely “pretty up your seat belt” protectors. That needs to be fixed here and now!

You surely know it: It’s summer and you’re lightly dressed sitting in your car – and the seat belt rubs on your skin. Driving without the fastened seat belts is not an option, of course (if someone would have said that back when wearing a seat belt was announced as mandatory ;) ). So, what to do? Right: Sew a seat belt pad!

*Ok, right now rather less… like I noticed here, too.

That’s why I started one of my forays through the neverending deeps of the internet I became so fond of to find inspiration for making one on my own. In the past* I used to have a “Tigerenten”*** seat beld pad… but, that doesn’t exist anymore for some reason. And that’s when I came across the calling up for a trial sewing on Nanodas kreative Welt and simply applied. Lo and behold – I was lucky! It was my first time taking part in such a trial-sewing test and it was a lot of fun! Sadly, I didn’t have the time to absolutely live it up the way I would have loved to, because packing the boxes and other things needed a lot of attention

**I have to admit: Not as a child, but when I turned 18 and got my very first own car… - yes, I’m someone like that.
*** A “Tigerente” is sort of a “tiger duck” – it’s a duck with tiger pattern and a popular German child-thing.

Here you can see my first little design example which is published in the freebok as well.
Do you remember my little picture from facebook and Google+? This is the solution: It’s a seat belt pad (or protector)!
In a few days I’ll show more to you of what I stitched together – and I actually planned a little surprise. But, because the offline-life needs a lot of organisational talent and perparation (new apartment & a new chapter in life) all is pretty haywire araound here and there aren’t any presentable pictures, still. But I’ll make good for this!

You can see many more and very lovely design examples (especially children’s designs) from other trial-sewers in Nadine’s posting and, of course, inside the freebok you can download on her page. I can only say: It was a super first trial-sewing experience which turned out in a supernice freebok and lovely seat belt pads! :)
By the way, these are really easy to sew. The first ones need a little practice with the bias tape but then they are no trouble at all. Maybe you want to sew some for yourself, now… ;)
((Sorry to my not-German-speaking readers: Sadly, the freebok is only published in German.))
