Während ich noch an der nächsten Anleitung werkel möchte ich euch trotzdem ein wenig von meinem ersten Besuch auf dem Koffermarkt und einem kleinen Ausflug nach Osnabrück berichten:
Am 27. September 2015 fand in Osnabrück der 6. Koffermarkt in der „Lagerhalle“ statt. Wenn ihr (wie ich, ehe ich mich mit meinem Blog beschäftigt habe) noch nie etwas von einem „Koffermarkt“ gehört habt, denkt ihr wahrscheinlich jetzt auch… - hä? Ein Markt, auf dem nur Koffer verkauft werden, oder wie? Das war jedenfalls mein erster Gedanke.
So ist das natürlich nicht: Ein Koffermarkt ist
ein Markt für liebevoll Handgefertigtes. Anders als auf üblichen Märkten werden
diese Dinge vorzugsweise aus nostalgischen, hübschen Koffern angeboten.
While I am still busy preparing my next tutorial I like to report a little about my first trunk sale visit and a little trip to Osnabruck:
On September 27 in 2015 the 6th trunk sale took place in Osnabrück at the “Lagerhalle” (German for storehouse). If you (like me before I started to deal with my blog) never heard of such a “trunk sale” you might think… - huh? A market where only trunks are for sale, or what? At least this was my first thought.
But, of course, that is not true: A trunk sale is a
market for lovingly hand-crafted things. Different from other markets these
things are presented in preferably nostalgic, pretty trunks.
Mein kleiner Sonntagsausflug begann mit einer Zugfahrt und entsprechend in Osnabrück am Hauptbahnhof. Da das Wetter mitspielte und es ein schöner, sonniger Herbsttag war, bin ich zu Fuß zur Lagerhalle an der Rolandsmauer (so heißt die Straße) gegangen. Das ganze hat bei gemütlichem Tempo etwa 20 Minuten gedauert. Auf dem Bild unten seht ihr an den pinken Punkten den Weg, den ich genommen habe; ihr könnt ihn euch auch bei Google Maps ansehen.
I started my little Sunday trip with a ride by train
and accordingly at the central station in Osnabrück. The weather came into the
picture handily and it was a beautiful, sunny day in autum. So I went to the
Rolandsmauer (that’s the name of the street) by foot. The walk took about 20
minutes with a unhurried pace. You can see the way I chose marked with the pin
dots in the picture below; you can take a look at it on Google Maps aswell.
Ich kam mir ein wenig seltsam vor, wie ich so mit
dem Handy als Navigationsgerät ständig die Satellitenansicht von Google Maps
mit der Realtität um einen herum verglichen habe, um zu sehen, ob ich noch
richtig laufe… :) Aber man gewöhnt sich dran.
Einmal dann in der Innenstadt und der Altstadt
angekommen, hat sich der Teil von Osnabrück, den ich zu Gesicht bekommen habe,
als richtig malerisch entpuppt.
I started to feel a bit odd by using my mobile phone
as navigation device an by keeping comparing the satellite view of Google Maps
with my surrounding reality to check if I was still on the right track… :) But
you geht used to it.
Once I enterd the inner city and the old town I felt
the part of Osnabrück I got to see as really scenic.
Unterwegs sind mir auch
diese drei Fahrräder hier aufgefallen. Alle türkis gestrichen, mit pinken
Blumengirlanden und mit Blumenkästen geschmückt, die mit echten Blumen bestückt
waren. Das sah sehr hübsch aus, wie sie da so in der Gegend herumstanden – an
einer kahlen Wand, vor einem Zaun oder diesem Geschäft. Was es damit auf sich
hat, habe ich allerdings nicht herausgefunden. Zwar habe ich Informationen über
„Grünfahrer“ finden können, aber nicht zu den Fahrrädern. Womöglich stecken jedoch dieselben
Leute dahinter? Vielleicht weiß das jemand von euch? Dann würde ich mich über
einen Kommentar freuen. ;)
I noticed
these three bikes on my was. All painted turquoise, decorated with pink flower
garlands, and carrying planter boxes filled with real flowers. They looked
pretty beautiful, placed by a bare wall, next to a fence, and in front of this
store. Nevertheless, I was not able to find any information on these bikes and
their purpose. I found some info about “Grünfahrer” (litteraly: green drivers;
but I guess it’s meant as ‘green vehicles’ since these are planted shopping
carts), indeed, but not on those bikes. There may be the same people in the
background, possibly? Maybe someone of you knows something about this? Then I
would gladly read your comment. ;)

the “Lagerhalle“ .
Nun also zum Koffermarkt selbst: Der
Eingangsbereich überraschte mich zuerst mit nur wenigen Koffern und einem DJ,
der für eine musikalische Untermalung sorgte. War jetzt nicht ganz so mein
Musikgeschmack, aber der kommt auf so einem Markt auch nicht gut. ;) In der
Lagerhalle befindet sich auch noch ein Cafe, so dass für das leibliche Wohl gut
gesorgt ist. Leider war es ziemlich dunkel (und für meine Kamera diese
Lichtverhältnisse einfach zu schlecht…), so dass meine Innenaufnahmen allesamt
nichts geworden sind. Das beste von diesem Foto-Desaster kann ich euch noch
anbieten, übernehme aber für Sehschäden keine Haftung! Zumindest für einen
kleinen Eindruck vom Markt selbst dürfte es reichen, auch wenn ihr hier nur die
größte der drei Flächen seht:
Now let’s talk about the trunk sale itself: The entry
area surprised with a few trunks and a DJ who arranged some background music.
The music was not quite my cup of tea, but what is my taste would not be well
received on such a market. ;) Inside the “Lagerhalle” there is a café taking
care of your physical well-being. The lights were pretty dimmed inside (and those lighting conditions too bad for my camera…) so my indoor photos did not
turn out to be presentable. I can offer you the best outcome of this photo-disaster,
but I do not take any responsibility for eye-damage! At least you may get some
visual impression even if you only see the biggest of the three selling areas
here:
Neben dieser Verkaufsfläche auf dem Foto gab es
noch eine Treppe im schon erwähnten Café-Bereich am Eingang, an deren oberen
Ende auf einer Empore und in einem kleinen, dahinterliegenden Raum noch weitere
Koffer-Inhalte angeboten wurden. Zu finden war dabei alles aus dem Bereich DIY:
Genähtes, Gehäkeltes, Gefilztes, Papierarbeiten, Schmuck, selbstgemachte
Seifen, Dekorationen aus Holz… alles, was das Selbermacher-Herz so begehrte. Da
ich mir fest vorgenommen habe nicht schon wieder furchtbar viele Dinge zu
kaufen (was ich durchaus gerne getan hätte *seufz*), habe ich ganz eisern allen
Versuchungen widerstanden und mich auf die Eindrücke konzentriert, die ich für
diesen Post so erlangen konnte – mit der Absicht, diesen zu schreiben und euch
von dem Markt zu berichten, bin ich eigentlich ja auch dort hingefahren.
(Beim einem
nächsten mal werde ich die Konditionen allerdings wieder lockern. Das war Selbstgeißelung! ;) )
Besides this selling area stairs in the café went up
on a little gallery and another small room where more trunk content was
offered. You could by everething from the DIY sector: sewn things, knitted
things, felted things, paper works, jewellery, handmade soaps, wooden deco…
everything the DIY-heart desires. I staunchly resisted all temptations since I
intended to not buy tremendous things again (what I quite lovingly wanted to
do… *sigh*) and focused on the impressions to gather for this blogpost –
because I went there with the intention to write and report to you about it,
actually.
(I will loosen the conditions of buying next time. It was like
self-flagellation! ;) )
Die Koffer waren alle sehr liebevoll dekoriert und
eingerichtet und die angebotenen Dinge wunderbar sehenswert und kaufenswert. Ein
wenig Kritik habe ich allerdings auch, bin mir aber darüber im Klaren, dass es
zum Teil nicht anders geht. Der ein odere andere Koffer war sehr vollgepackt,
was der wenige Platz einfach mit sich bringt. Hier wäre weniger eventuell mehr
gewesen, weil es ein bisschen unübersichtlich wurde. Man muss sich als Anbieter
aber sicherlich sehr gut überlegen, wie man einen so verhältnismäßig kleinen
Raum gut und ansprechend nutzt. Ich stelle es mir gar nicht so einfach vor, da
eine zufriedenstellende Auswahl zu treffen. Vielen ist das aber auch super schön gelungen!
The trunks were tenderly decorated and the offered
things wonderful worth seeing and buying.I do have a little criticism, though,
but I know things cannot be different in parts of this. The one or other trunk
was a little stuffed with things to sell what entails from the little space
inside trunk. It’s sometimes adding by substraction in this case because it
started to look somewhat untidy. As a vendor you certainly think very well how
to use so little space appropriate. I don’t think it is easy to find a
satisfying assortment. Lots of trunk vendors succeded here very pleasant, though!
Leider kam auf Grund der generellen Atmosphäre in
der Lagerhalle bei mir allerdings auch keine sehr gemütliche Stimmung auf, wie
ich sie auf so einem Selbermacher-Markt erwartet hätte. Ich mag unter solchen
Umständen etwas kitschig. ;) Da konnte in der eher industriell angehauchten
Lagerhalle für mich leider einfach kein Blumentopf gewonnen werden; aber das
ist ja auch nur der sehr persönliche Eindruck. Ein wenig themengerechte
Dekoration an den Wänden (z.B. Wimpelketten, Plakate, Girlanden?) hätte der
Halle womöglich gut getan. Der dicke, fette Pluspunkt ist hier aber eindeutig die
bei unserem Wetter unverzichtbare Unabhängigkeit von genau diesem.
Sadly, I did not perceive the cozy mood I expected on
such a DIY-market because of the general atmosphere inside the “Lagerhalle”. I
like it sugary and gaudy in this case. ;) So with me, the rather industrially
touched “Lagerhalle” could not get anywhere with that. A bit of decoration on
the walls fitting to the theme of this market (e.g. some bunting, posters,
garlands?) could have done some magic to this hall. The big, bold advantage
clearly is the dry location regardless of the wheather – especially with our
usually uncozy wheather in Germany.

Das Weinglas im rechten Bild stand einfach so, ganz
herrenlos, am Fuß des Heger Tors herum. Anscheinend ist es am Samstag Abend
zuvor ziemlich rund gegangen in Osnabrück. ;)
This is another impression of Osnabrück just "around the corner“ of the Lagerhalle. Getting out there in the opposite
direction is a path up the Heger Tor from where I took the picture you see above left.
This wine glass (right picture) just sat there, abandoned on the foot
of Heger Tor. Obviously, people in Osnabrück let it roll on Saturday evening
prior to the trunk sale. ;)
